Vision

Every year approximately 70 British Columbians die from the effects of exposure to asbestos. It is the greatest workplace killer in Canada today.

Hazardous materials must be handled properly to protect the health of workers and building occupants, and to safeguard our environment.  Unfortunately, asbestos, lead, mould and other hazardous materials often are not handled properly during building renovations or demolition projects. The correct training for the people doing this work can prevent exposure and ensure that the work is done safely for all concerned.

Our commitment:

  • Create healthier work and living environments by encouraging the safe handling of hazardous materials during renovation and demolition projects.
  • Provide comprehensive training that makes our member contractors and their workforce safe, knowledgeable and confident.
  • Work with governments and regulators to advance policies and regulations that enhance construction site safety where hazardous materials may be present.
